Gambling Cake

There's no need to take a gamble, this cake is a winner! Our client's husband was turning 49 and she wanted to have a special cake for the event. The party's colors were oranges and browns and we wanted to highlight one of the things he loves doing and thought a gambling cake would be fun. Instead of the traditional red and black cards, we hand-painted them in oranges and browns to match the warm-colored poker chips and bright orange dice. The birthday boy's age was highlighted in a subtle way with the two cards on the front of the cake.

St. Patrick's Day School Auction Cake

This fun cake was created for the kiddo's annual school auction's dessert dash on St. Patrick's Day. They had an "Over the Rainbow" theme and I used their flyers for inspiration. Not only does this vibrant rainbow lead to a pot of gold, over-spilling with gold coins, but you find tons of school supplies, too. This tasty Irish Car Bomb cake was a fun to see come to life, and it came out better than I had even planned. Most importantly, it raised a lot of money for a great school!

Egypt to Seattle Cake

You don't always need a big event for a really special cake. This little 5" personal cake was created as a  "Welcome home" present. The entire cake is covered in fondant and packed with personal touches. A hand-painted Egyptian desert scene wraps around the sides - complete with pyramids and camels. The top of the cake sports the space needle and the cute couple, sitting in a bed of orange flowers (the recipient's favorite color). The little figures are based off of photos and they are even wearing their favorite shirts! It's the personal touches found on this cake that make it truly a once-in-a-lifetime gift.

Sesame Street Cakes - Two Ways

I don't usually combine two separate cake orders in one post, but I thought it would be fun to show the different ways the same party theme could be done with a Stuffed Cake. Both of these cakes were for two year olds, both were 8" square cakes, and both were super cute!

The first cake shown was done in (what we call) 2D fondant - or flat - accents. Avery's favorite characters are front and center and the look like they are popping off the cake. In fact, I think Cookie Monster is ready to shake your hand. The primary colors of Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird look great with the Strawberry buttercream.

The second cake is done with 3D fondant toppers - basically sculptural accents. Oliver's favorite characters are hanging out in Sesame Street, and Slimy made for a perfect "2" on the front of the cake. Ernie is relaxing on a boulder, Oscar is hanging out in his trash-can, Grover is sitting with the flowers and the guest of honor, Elmo, is sitting with his legs hanging over the side of the cake.

You can see that whatever the budget, we can bring your theme to life!

Stormtrooper & Vader In Love Cake

I always love making Star Wars cakes and cupcakes, but this one has a great sense of humor, too. Blu's company got him this cute little 5" cake as a going away present. It features a Stormtrooper and Darth Vader in love. Awesome!

Dotted Ombre Cake

Ombre cakes are all the rage lately. "Ombre?" you ask... it's a fancy way to say "gradated" and I absolutely love it!

I've always been a color junkie and I pride myself in my use of color; so when a great friend of mine was having a birthday, I thought it was the perfect time to make my first ombre cake. However, I didn't want to do it in a way I have seen done already.

This delectable Irish Car Bomb cake is already a gorgeous creamy color due to the Irish Cream buttercream and I wanted to play off the Guinness Chocolate cake. I used those soft caramel colors Guinness makes near the head of a pint for the dots - creating a simply stunning cake.

I was lucky enough to dig in to this one. Mmm....

Awesome Opossum Cake!

My favorite cakes to create are the ones with a back-story. Whether it's an inside joke, a child's imagination, or family tradition - I love create what others can dream up! This opossum cake was created for my client's boyfriend who was turning 30. His family has called him "tlacuache" (spanish for "possum") since he was a little boy and his friends have all followed suit. They ordered this custom carved cake - a dead opossum with his favorite alcohol. This life-sized creature cake was stunning - while macabre - and it's life-like features actually made my client jump when she first saw it in the box!

Yes, there's even caramel sauce coming out of it's nose.

Look at those cute toes and life-like tail!
